Ghostdog Training Concepts is not your average firearms training program. Nor is GTC your normal cookie cutter type instruction program, whose instructor learned his trade in a classroom setting or by taking online classes.

I have over 35 years of real-life firearms experience that I have honed through hunting, law enforcement, competition shooting and years of concealed carry. While my shooting classes are structured, my teaching style is very adaptive. I have learned, over the years, that people learn and absorb information differently and at different speeds. Due to this, my teaching style is structured around the student’s learning style, making sure each student “gets” (understands) the information being taught. For this reason, I keep my class sizes small. I want to ensure that each student receives the most on-on-one, individual time and instruction they deserve.

I look forward to helping you with all your firearms training.

Jeff Whitaker

Instructor/Owner

The name “Ghostdog” was given to me over 23 years ago by one of my mentors and my dear friend, John Landon. John took me under his wing and taught me about the shooting sports. He is also the person that first recognized my ability to teach others. John encouraged me to become an instructor.

My love for firearms started when my grandfather took me out hunting for the first time at the age of 7. I have been an avid hunter and (sport) shooter for 35 plus years. I was a Corrections Officer for several years, where I was the Armorer and a member of the Special Response Team for the prison. In 1999 I began participating in competitive pistol shooting, which is when I first fell in love with the sport of handgun competition. I am currently ranked as a Master class pistol shooter in three different divisions in the United States Practical Shooting Association (USPSA). I am also a former member of Team Sig Sauer. I am a former coach for the Wheeler County Rangers, which was (is??) a Scholastic Shooting .22 caliber league sponsored by the Wheeler County Sheriff’s Office in Spray, Oregon. The age group for the Rangers I worked with was between 12 and 19 years of age. I have had the pleasure of instructing and coaching many men, women and children in safe gun handling, the self-defense arena and the shooting sports.

I am also a USCCA and NRA Certified Handgun Instructor, as well as an NRA Range Safety Officer. I am certified to instruct Concealed Carry, Concealed Carry and Home Defense Fundamentals, Basic Pistol, Countering The Mass Shooter Threat, Church Safety, Protecting Your Congregation, Real Estate Agent Safety and Emergency First Aid Fundamentals.
